I'm getting really frustrated with this.
I am a 22 year old male, married, and combined last year we (my wife
and I) earned 31,100. We bought a house and a car last year, and are
living paycheck to paycheck just to pay bills on time. We cannot
afford to pay for college tuition much less the high cost of
textbooks. I filled out the FAFSA, but my SAR said that my EFC was
over 7000 and that I would not be eligible for Pell Grant. Why is my
EFC so high, and why am I not eligible for pell grant?
rant:
I have NEVER been eligible for pell grant before because my PARENTS
earned too much money; however, they haven't given me ONE RED CENT to
pay for school, so WHY DOES THEIR INCOME MATTER?! Now that I'm on my
own, paying a mortgage and car payment, married, etc, the government
still refuses to acknowledge that I need help paying for college, too.
I just think its unfair. I'm not looking for a handout, but a hand up
would be nice.
....end rant
