How to pay off student loans from abroad

by "Annette Buchholdt" <abuchholdt@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 29, 2007 at 04:43 AM

Hi
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about paying off student
loans from abroad. I am an American citizen living in France.
Unfortunately, my student loans have recently gone to default. I'm
aware I can consolidate my loans and if I pay every month for 10
months, I can get them back on track and out of default. My problem is
I'm being paid in euros and have a european bank account. Can I
arrange for them to take the money out of my account each month? If
so, do I need to pay to convert euro to dollars each time? This can be
very expensive, as why I'm scared to make this agreement...

If anyone has any ideas or sugestions, I would be sooo thankful!

Best wishes:)
Annette
